Yosemite National Park is a premier destination for many travelers and vacationers. It boasts some of the world’s most iconic landmarks and sights. The Park also offers more than; 800 miles of beautiful trails.

A great way to truly enjoy the Park’s trails and hiking destinations, is to go on guided hikes.

The whole family will be able to enjoy the Park’s beauty.

Yosemite National Park Hiking & The Spectacular Scenery

Companies such as {Redwoods} in Yosemite, offer guided tours that can be enjoyed, by the whole family. These guided hikes will let you explore and see the sights, while learning about areas; history, wildlife habitats, riparian meadows and much more.

Guide tours from Redwoods are easy to moderate in difficulty, with moderate elevation gains. These hikes can be easy done by anyone in good physical shape. Taking hikes of this type, typically last between two and four hours and include;

The Wawona Meadow Loop hike that covers 3-1/2 miles in about 2-1/2 hours. The hike starts at the trailhead, just next to the Wawona Hotel.

Family Friendly Hikes in Yosemite National Park

The Wawona Historic Swing Bridge hike is a moderate two-mile adventure, lasting about two hours.

Hikers meet at the Redwoods in Yosemite registration meeting and events center. You and your family can even combine both hikes for a day’s adventure. Be sure to call Redwoods for more detailed information.

Consider Taking Ranger Guided Hikes

What better way to learn about the National Park than from Park Rangers? Multi-day hikes are offered to let you explore such areas as;

May Lake;
Vogelsang;
Sunrise;
Merced Lake.

All of your meals and lodging, as well as friendly guide services are included, in these special hikes. Many visitors come to hike Yosemite’s Half Dome.

It has become such a popular hike, that the Park Services instigated a permit system, for this trip. These permits are available through the Park Service. Many area guide services will provide assistance, in obtaining a permit.

Backpacking For Novice Hikers

Even if you are a novice at backpacking, there are some great trips, designed just for you. Enjoy a two-day guided adventure, that will introduce you to the ins and outs, of backpacking through the wilderness.

When you go on one of these types of adventures, all supplies including; backpacks, sleeping bags, and tents will be provided. What a great way to learn and experience backpacking as a family!

Excellent One Day Hikes

Perhaps you only have a short time to spend in Yosemite — maybe even only a single day. There are many short day hikes that you can go on, that give you the opportunity, to explore the many famous areas the Park has to offer, in just one day.

Yosemite 101

The Yosemite 101 hike will take you to Yosemite’s most famous sights. This hike will take a full day and you will have to do some driving. You will get to see such iconic landmarks such as;

Tunnel View;
Bridalveil Falls;
Yosemite Falls;
Mariposa Grove;
Glacier Point.

You can mix up the order of these hikes, but many people enjoy making {Glacier Point}, the last stop. This will allow you to sit and watch the sun setting, over the peaks.

World of Waterfalls

This trip will take you to the four most famous Waterfalls of Yosemite. If you can go on this trip during the spring or early summer, and while the snow pack is still melting, you’ll see and experience waterfalls at their peak.

You will visit {The Tunnel View}, that will let you see your first glimpse of; Bridalveil Falls!

This is followed by actually getting to see Bridalveil falls, after a short walk. The {Swinging Bridge} and {Lower Yosemite Falls}, are the next two spectacular falls on the itinerary.

The trip is completed at the Mist Trail where you will see; Vernal Fall Bridge and Emerald Pool.

Glacier Point Trio

On this tour, you will be gazing down from high atop many landmark glaciers, where you will get a commanding view the expansive areas of the Park. While you can complete the tour in an afternoon, it will be more fun for the family, when you pack a lunch and take your time enjoying the sights.

On this tour you will stop first at; Taft Point and the Fissures, where you will find yourself at an overlook with a sheer drop off. You will also be looking down on the very famous; “ El Capitan.”

The next stop will be {Sentinel Dome}, where you’ll have 360-degree views, that go on for miles. The final stop on this hiking adventure is; Glacier Point. This is a wonderful place to experience the Sunset!

While the views are actually to the east, you will see; Half Dome, Clouds Rest and the Eastern Peaks, turning different colors with the setting sun.

Whether you want to take just a simple day hike or go on a multi-day adventure, you are sure to find the perfect hike for the entire family. Just do not forget to bring along those cameras to record those fantastic sights!
